Our Heros

To be a good person, you just need to keep a few things in mind and have good role models.

Eleanor Roosevelt

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste it, to experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”

First lady Eleanor Roosevelt, wife of Franklin D. Roosevelt, was a leader in her own right and involved in numerous humanitarian causes throughout her life. She is one of the most widely admired people of the 20 th Century, described as “the object of almost universal respect”. She was one of the most active first ladies in history and worked for political, racial and social justice as well as serving as an advocate for a wide range of other human rights issues.

Our Belief: Be Nice – small acts of kindness make a big impact.

John Muir

“Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out going to the mountains is going home; that wilderness is a necessity.”

John Muir was perhaps this country’s most famous and influential naturalist and conservationist. He taught the people of his time and ours the importance of experiencing and protecting our natural heritage. His words have heightened our perception of nature. His personal and determined involvement in the great conservation questions of the day was and remains an inspiration for environmental activists everywhere.

Our Belief: Say Yes to Adventure – Accept challenges, don’t settle for easy, and forge your own path.

Albert Einstein

“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science.”

Albert Einstein’s greatest contributions were to physics through his relativity theory, but the impact of his ideas was not limited to science. Einstein’s achievements influenced philosophy, art, literature, and countless other disciplines. As an individual passionate in his convictions and outspoken in his politics, Einstein transformed the image of the scientist in the twentieth century. TIME Magazine selected Albert Einstein as “Person of the Century,” hailing him as “genius, political refugee, humanitarian, locksmith of the mysteries of the atom and the universe. His intellectual achievements and originality have made the word ”Einstein” synonymous with “genius”.

Our Belief: Be Curious – ask “why” often and try to understand different people and places, don’t just accept what you’re told or status quo.
